UPS Battery Backup Issues
Have you ever walked into your branch and heard a loud ringing alarm? More than likely that is due to an issue with the UPS battery backup that the Server computer should be connected to. This document will outline what steps to take to resolve this and prevent it from happening in the future.
Guide:
- If your battery backup is beeping and flashing red and green on the power, that means the battery in the UPS is dead. This means the battery needs to be recharged. The first thing to do is to check if anything OTHER than the server computer and server computer monitor is plugged into the UPS. If there is anything else plugged into the UPS, that is most likely causing the battery to deplete and you need to find another outlet to plug that device into. The server computer and server computer monitor should be the only thing plugged into the UPS.
- The second thing to do is to turn off the UPS. Hold down the power button until you hear a beep. Once the UPS is off, keep the UPS plugged into the wall outlet with nothing else connected to it. This will start charging the UPS battery.
- After about an hour, turn on the UPS again and see if the beeping persists. If the device does not beep, the battery was successfully recharged and the server computer and server computer monitor may be plugged back in.
- If the UPS continues to beep after an hour of charging, it will need to be replaced. Please open a helpdesk ticket so we may send you a replacement.
